It works by inhibiting cell division and elongation in weed seedlings through the disruption of microtubule assembly, effectively preventing their growth and establishment. It belongs to Dinitroaniline group of herbicides which acts by inhibiting the root growth by disruption of cell division and elongation. After the application it quickly spread on soil. It alters in the cell wall formation in both root and shoot resulting in plant death by lack of new cell formation.
